How to Make Back to School Simple but Exciting

My girls are still at the age where back to school is lots of fun.  I dread the day they dread going back to school.  Although my girls are very excited about school I have mixed feelings.  I'm excited to have them out of the house but I'm not looking forward to having to be up and at of the house by 7:45 every morning.  It's not that I ever sleep in but it's just a lot to get four people (self included) all ready by that time.  I also wish I lived in a world where Summer lasted all year round.  I love the warm weather, the play dates, the trips and all that Summer brings (minus the darn mosquito's).

So I have one hand tightly holding onto Summer and the other busily preparing for Back to School.  I saw a meme that other day that said there are 5 seasons in a year: Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall and Back to School.  It made me laugh and it's so true.  There is so much hype around back to school and so much to check off the to-do list.  There are subscriptions for just about everything now a days so why can't there be a biannual subscription for school supplies.  Delivery would be in August and January to replenish all that has broken, gotten lost, etc.  I'm going off on a tangent but maybe this is something I need to invent.  Because it's a pain to online shop and run to several stores to get everything you need for your kids to be ready to go.

Until I invent a one stop shop for Back to School shopping you are left with the current situation.  Since that's not the easiest and most convenient I've tried to make it much simpler for you and round up everything I think your children need and what is the best (all while staying affordable because that's my mantra).

How to Style Affordable Easter Outfits for Your Family

I love holidays for a dozen reasons and one of them is getting to dress everyone up; I live for picking out coordinating outfits.  When I'm styling our family I'm always looking to keep it affordable so my first stop are our closets for things we already own.  Then I start hitting the stores based on what I find or don't find at home.  I usually am looking for an inspiration piece and then I work from there.

For Easter we have two days of celebrations so I have to style two family outfits but you won't find me complaining at all!  Day 1 is definitely more casual and this year I found the girls rompers early on and those were my starting point.  I found Jack's button up onesie to coordinate because I didn't want him in all blush pink.  His onesie was perfect because it was the piece to tie us all together.  A piece or two that brings us together is usually my goal.  I also don't love matchy-matchy but rather coordinating.  Sometimes the girls will match but I don't want all of us to be too similar.  Back to keeping things reasonable I accessorize with what we already own.  I almost never buy new bows, shoes or jewelry/purses when styling the whole family for an event/holiday.  This keeps the cost down and also the amount of time I'm looking for everything.

For Easter Sunday we get dressed up and I went with a color palette that isn't traditional for Easter but if you know me you know I'm still obsessed with check/gingham/buffalo plaid.  Emily's two piece set was my inspiration and the rest came together easily.  A rule of thumb for me when using neutral colors, like black and white is to throw in a pop of color to make a splash.  I also like to mix patterns; like polka dots, stripes and gingham for Easter Sunday and stripes, solids and gingham for Saturday.

My top is from a local boutique Ooh La La.

To see everything else from our Easter Celebrations continue on!  We had such a fun and blessed Easter and I hope you did as well.

Winter Style for Little Ones with London Littles

I think the Winter months can pose a little bit of difficulties in the style department.  I love dressing up my little girls and it makes me giddy that they are little fashionistas as well.  However, when the weather cools down it can be a little harder to find cute options.  It's even harder when it starts raining.  So finding London Littles rain boots made all three of us super happy.  The girls love their boots and especially love wearing them with dresses and knee highs.  London Little rain boots are super functional yet also adorable; they add such flair to any outfit.  The girls are wearing the King's Cross Rain Boot which is a cranberry color with white plaid.  These will be wonderful all year round but was especially perfect for the holidays.

What to Pack in Your Hospital Bag

When packing your hospital bag I recommend keeping it light and simple.  As someone who has done this before you don't need a lot to get by.  I've looked at a lot of lists on Pinterest and can't believe how extensive they are.  Not only do you not need everything under the sun but keep in mind your husband or another family member can run home and grab something for you.  It's not like you're traveling by plane to deliver a baby.

One of my biggest recommendations is button sleep shirts.  I bought a pajama set my first delivery and found that it wasn't great for recovery (I'll spare you details).  A button up sleep shirt is great for nursing and for those pesky nurses checks.  You also don't have to worry about ruining pants.  A robe and slippers are great for walking around.  I found my maternity robe at PinkBlush Maternity.  I love the floral print and how light weight the material is yet it's not cheap feeling.  I wanted something blue since I'm having a boy but yet still feminine.  This robe checks all the boxes and I just love it.  My shift dress that I'm wearing above is also from PinkBlush and my favorite part is the ruffle detail on the sleeve.  I picked this up because I knew it would work during my third trimester as well as for my post-partum body which of course is a weird, in-between size.  It's also perfect to pack as a going home outfit.

I've packed a nursing bra and a pumping bra in my hospital bag which I found from Cake Maternity.  You literally can't survive without nursing bras and I'm very excited about these two new finds.  I'm most excited to try out the hands free pumping bra but it also is great as a nursing sports bra.  It's very comfortable and easy to maneuver for feeding.

I'm used to dressing up little girls to the nines so I'm going to have to probably hold myself back with little man.  But don't worry there will be no frills at all.  However, I still couldn't help myself in finding him the cutest little outfits for the hospital.  I have a personalized footed outfit with matching beanie and blanket from Jennifer Ann and a navy and grey swaddle set from Khloe & Kinley.  The Khloe & Kinley set has a matching headband for me and bows for the girls; I mean can we get any cuter?!?!  I also picked up a newborn beanie and name tag from Infanteenie Beenie.

Take your favorite snacks since hospital food is never fabulous.  In addition to food for yourself bring items for the staff.  I've always brought care packages for the nurses and make it known that they can share it with colleagues.  This is to get on their good side and hope for the best care.

Since this is my third baby I have some recommendations on what not to bring.  Use the hospital and get a lot of your items from them.  Not only is it less packing but hey you are paying them a fortune to be there so get your money's worth!  Ask for diapers (extra to go home as well), burp cloths, Lanolin cream, breast pump parts, breast pads, wipes, Dermoplast, pads and anything else they will give you.  Speaking of pads I CAN NOT wear those mesh panties with the "diaper" they provide you.  I almost choked when that's what they offered with my first delivery.  Luckily I said no thanks and found out they have normal pads to use instead which I paired with granny panties I bought specifically for post-partum recovery.  I've brought my DSLR camera in the past but I'm not packing it this time.  I have an iPhone 8 Plus which takes great photos plus I'm having a professional photographer come to take Fresh 48 photos.  If you can't live without electronics than bring your laptop or iPad but it's on my list to leave home.  I found in the past that I didn't have any free time to play on them between visitors, nursing the baby and doctors and nurses coming in for checks.

Let's not forget the bag that you have to put everything in.  For each of my deliveries I've ordered a personalized bag for the baby so they can have a travel bag for future use.  You know my love for Thirty-One Gifts so I of course got this Retro Metro Weekender Bag from them.  It's lightweight which I find important for a travel bag.  I also love the option of arm straps or a crossbody long strap.  I picked up a coordinating bag for my toiletries called the Ditty Dot Glamour Case which has a clear  interior pocket.  I'm just a tad obsessed with anything from Gigi New York and snagged the All In One bag for my makeup.  Most of you also know my obsession for personalization so adding my initials was a must!  Make sure that you pack your bag ahead of time so you're not scrambling and stressing once you go into labor.

Back to School Shopping 2018

At the end of Summer we always look for new outfit, backpack, lunch pail and supplies for school.  The girls adorable backpacks are from Viv & Lou which offers the cutest products that all can be personalized for free.  The quality is outstanding, the options are endless and everything is very affordable in my opinion.  My favorite part is the personalization is included!

Emily wears uniforms so clothes shopping is such a breeze.  I've included below great uniform options from retailers you already shop at; plus the sales are great!  Madi's first day of school outfit is a navy and white gingham romper from a local boutique.  I just love it and was even happier she loved it.  Last year was quite the power struggle picking out a new outfit whereas this year was a breeze.  Some of my other purchases for non-uniform wearers are below.  I picked out comfortable, affordable but cute options.  I don't like to spend a lot on school clothes because they get worn very quickly.  Plus you don't have to sacrifice style for price in my opinion.

The girls lunch pails are also from Viv & Lou and Emily is using the travel snack stack from Re-Play which hooks perfectly to a lunch box or backpack.

Disneyland: The Place Where Dreams Really Do Come True

I'm just reminiscing about our Disney trip and I'm ready to go back.  Overall we had a great time but it wasn't exactly all we had hoped for because Emily got sick on day 2.  Luckily she was able to get a few hours each day in the park and thank goodness both grandmas were with us to assist with going back to the hotel for Emily to rest.  I wanted to share all that we did so get ready for Disney and picture overload!

Sunday morning the girls finished their countdown and were so excited to head down to Disneyland!  We left early that morning, made a stop right before the Grapevine for lunch and hit Anaheim early afternoon.  We got in some pool time, settled into our rooms and then headed to Downtown Disney for shopping, sightseeing and grabbing dinner.  One of our absolute favorite spots to eat is Naples.  Not only is the food to die for but they have a great atmosphere and an incredible balloon artist who makes the best characters for the girls.  It's a must on your trip!

4th of July Outfits for Girls

As most of you already know I love any excuse for a cute outfit and the holidays are at the top of that list.  Fourth of July is just around the corner and I've picked up some adorable looks for the girls that we are already sporting around town.  I can't wait until next year when I'm also coordinating baby brother with these two cuties.  Can you imagine how much he's going to love looking back on all the photos!

Baby Name Reveal

Before we were even married we had two names picked out: one for a girl and one for a boy.  After having two girls I was completely convinced that we would have three girls and we would never get to use our boy name.  I'm still in shock about having a boy and can't explain how blessed I feel.  We are very happy to share our little man's name with you: Jackson Jeffrey Foreman.  I love having a name picked out so early on because I feel we get to connect even more with the baby because we always refer to him by his name.

Jeans & Graphic Tee

Outside of work I think I could live in jeans and a tee; they are true staples in my closet.  Lucky for me baggy shirts are in because my tummy is growing (along with other expanding areas).  I have dozens of tees in my closet and almost a dozen jeans but these are definitely my go-to pair.  The accessories also change up the look.  I believe switching the shoes and the purse can really transform an outfit.

With this extreme bi-polar weather I'm afraid we are going to go from Winter to Summer very quickly so I hope for some true Spring weather which is perfect for the jeans and tee look.

Disney Style

We don't get to travel to Disneyland several times a year or even annually so when we get a trip on the calendar it's a HUGE deal!  I never know who's more excited me or the girls???  Part of the fun of the trip is planning for it.  I'm that crazy mom who has every detail of an outfit planned and several activities for each day on the calendar {more planning posts to come}.  Because a Disney trip is such a special occasion I think it's totally acceptable to go over the top with the outfits.  Plus I have girls so it's even more appropriate.  I wanted to share with you some of the outfits I have planned for our upcoming trip.

Getting to  work with and collaborate with some small business is one of my favorite parts of authoring a blog.  I am so thrilled to share with you these boutiques: Disney Tribe Shirts from Splatter Customer Apparel / Bling Shoes from Sassy Soles Shoetique / Minnie Ears from Shop My Mouse / Backpack & Lunch Pail from Thirty-One Gifts / Thermos from Itsy Bitsy Wear

Blushing for Spring- Blush Chocker Dress

Other than the holidays I hate Winter mainly because I hate being cold!  I am just dying for Summer but will gladly accept Spring and I've been praying it comes around sooner than later.  The weather has been so bi-polar here and such a tease.  A few days of warm sunshine and then several days of cold and wet.  Don't get me wrong we desperately need the rain but I just am ready for flip flops, sunnies, dresses and all that comes with Summer.  This dress is perfect for Spring; I love its simplicity but the color and choker detail make it special.  I've paired it with my favorite booties that are on repeat nearly every day.  As the weather gets even warmer I will pair this dress with block heels.
