Sharing Our Sweet & Fun Valentine's Day Traditions

Valentine's Traditions

If you know me you know I live for traditions and all holidays.  I will seize any excuse to decorate, buy cute matching outfits and celebrate.  I'm sharing our traditions for the season of love however time is flying so I'm not sure how it's almost the end of February.  I feel like Valentine's Day was just yesterday.

Valentine's Traditions- Breakfast

For most holidays I love giving the girls a special breakfast to celebrate.  This year I did the breakfast to kick off the month and its when I gave them their Valentine outfits to wear leading up to the big day.

My set ups are always super simple so that I don't have to spend a lot of time, energy or effort.  I hope their simplicity gives you a bit of inspiration.  I bought the garland and chalkboard at The Dollar Spot at Target, the clothes are linked here, the buckets were from Walmart, the tableware is linked here and I had the games and chevron runner already.

I served heart pancakes and strawberries, pink milk and mini marshmallows.  To make heart strawberries you cut a V in the top and then cut the strawberry in half.  I poured the pancakes into heart shapes and then stacked them up and put a skewer through the middle with the strawberry on top.

We can't get in the full holiday spirit without the appropriate gear.  I always get a few outfits and pajamas for the kids and they wear them leading up to the holiday.  I didn't get them all pictured but here are a few...

I don't always have the time but I try really hard to do crafts and projects with the girls because they live for that sort of stuff!  We worked on three Valentine's painting projects and you can see all the details here.

Ever since Emily was a toddler we ditched the Valentine's Dinner Date and started having pizza night.  Kevin brings home roses and little treats for the girls and we order a heart shaped pizza.  It's such a fun tradition and I don't miss the dinner date for nothing.  We actually went out the two of us on Friday and it was the perfect compromise.

This year I created a fun little Pizza Party Picnic in front of the tv.  We watched Valentine shows and enjoyed our time together as a family.

Ever since I was a little girl my mom and I have had the tradition of exchanging small gifts leading up to the holiday.  We've continued that tradition with my kids and it makes me oh so happy.  The girls get so excited to check their mailbox every day.  Some days its a treat, other days a note and sometimes a small gift.  It's not about the item but about the tradition and showing each other how much we love each other.

This year Madi's class had a teacher/student only party but I did get to attend Emily's class party.  The girls took different Valentine's for their friends.  Emily took Capri-Sun's and Madi took Laughy Taffy.  I made the tags to go with their treats.  Check out our past ideas HERE.
