Fun & Easy Color Activities for Kids with Free Printables

I have two girls, one in Preschool and one in Kindergarten.  They have phenomenal teachers but I love activities we can do at home that reinforce what they are learning at school.  Emily, who is in Kinder is learning to read with sight words and Madi, who is in Preschool is learning colors at school (although she's basically mastered them awhile ago).  Color Activities are perfect for the both of them and what they are learning in school right now.  I've created a few games that I'd love to share with you to work with your little ones.  I think the best learning is through fun and that's what I'm hoping to accomplish here.

After school my girls are always starving so mixing snack time with activity time is essential.  For that reason I've combined the two with some of these color activities.  Goldfish are a treat for my girls and they go crazy for them.  So Goldfish Colors are the perfect snack to use for these color activities.  Did you know that Goldfish Colors are sourced from plants?  I am far from a "clean" eater but I do take small steps in getting there, especially when it comes to food that I give the girls.  I can't stand food that has color dye.  I've always thought, "food has natural colors so why add chemicals?!?!" I was so happy to find out that Goldfish uses natural foods to color their Goldfish.  The red crackers are colored from beet juice concentrate and paprika from sweet red peppers.  The green comes from watermelon and Huito juice concentrate mixed with extracted turmeric.  The red-orange crackers are colored with paprika extracted from sweet peppers.  The orange are made with annatto extracted from the seed of the achiote tree.  Of course the cheese used is 100% real cheddar cheese!

This activity is a tree with color sight words where your child matches the Goldfish color to the word. Emily demonstrates in this video how to do the activity.  Perhaps she should be an actress because I just explain the game to her and she takes it from there.  She's so comfortable with explaining the process and speaking to the camera.  She cracks me up!

I created two Color Hunt activities, one for Emily and one for Madi.  Emily will use the one with words by reading the color and then finding things either outside or around the house that are that color.  She then uses a dry erase marker to write what she finds.  Madi will use the colors to identify what color she is looking for because she's too little to read the words.  I will then write in what she finds for her.

I laminated all of these activities so they would last way longer and then you could use dry erase markers on them as well.  I hope these activities encourage learning while also having fun and eating a snack you can feel good about!

I'd love to hear which activity your little one enjoyed the most!  Also did you know that you can vote for your favorite Goldfish color?  The winning color will get it's own limited edition bag.

  1. We should always take the proper care of our child and there is no doubt that if we can manage to visit early childhood education Omaha with our child then we will get the best education for our child besides all this best quality care.
