Handmade Pillows and Home Decor by Created by Mignon

For those of you that know me, you know that I love to decorate for all the holidays.  It's brings such a festive spirit to the house and gives me joy to celebrate all the holidays.  My latest partnership with Created by Mignon really excites me because she creates great decor for your homes.  Her specialities are handmade pillows and wooden home decor.  Mignon was so sweet to send me Halloween decor for my home.  The pillows and wooden figurines are way too cute and I just loved adding them to my house.  The items are great quality and Mignon was great to work with.  I loved getting to know her and am inspired by another driven mama.  Please read below to learn more about this awesome woman.

Meet

Please tell us a little bit about your company and how you got started:

I started Created By Mignon on etsy.com about 4 years ago when I was making and selling hair bows. About a year later I quit my full time job and started sewing pillows and making wooden decorations full time. At Created By Mignon I make handmade decorative pillows, wooden decorations, handmade cards, and children's clothing. All of my designs are designed and crafted by myself. I pride myself on paying attention detail, and making a high quality product. 

What has been your greatest lesson in running your own business?

The greatest lesson that I have learned running my business is managing my time. When I started working from home I was working all day and all night and was not very organized, it was chaos. Over time I have learned to manage my time better, and now have more of a schedule.

What’s your greatest tip for entrepreneurs?

My greatest tip for an entrepreneur would be to figure out who your customers are, and what your customers are looking for. Base your products and webpage on that. 

What does your normal day look like?

My day starts out getting the kids off to school, then I feed the baby and eat breakfast. At about 9:00 I start my work, I try to come up with a new design everyday. I work until the kids get out of school, then help the kids with homework. When my husband gets home from work we have dinner and get the kids to bed. Then I straighten up the house and finally go to bed.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by my mom, she has always been a hard worker. She did a lot of crafting when I was younger. She taught me to sew, how to use a band saw, power tools, and how to toll paint. I wouldn't be where I am today if it wasn't for her.
